This figure shows the results of an "Abbreviated Urban Metabolism diagram" for Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This image strongly contrasts with previous examples in terms of color use and overall style. The use of different colors for different material groups is useful, and Sankey diagram properties seem to be used (including visual display of the relationship between flows and the width of the lines representing the size of the flow). However, the placement of the items and the use of many different types of images and shapes makes the graph look cluttered and makes understanding of the information more difficult.
